OLD GREER COUNTY MUSEUM AND HALL OF FAME is having a celebration on September 23. There is lots going on all day. Western Heritage will be cooking and you can eat in the dugout out back of the museum. Tintype pictures will be offered, buggy rides, games, tours of the museum. Lots of things are happening so come out and enjoy the festivities.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has announced that he is calling a special session of the Oklahoma Legislature beginning Oct. 3 to demand tax fairness for all Oklahomans, deliver a tax cut to Oklahoma taxpayers, and increase transparency in the state budget process.

Photographer, printmaker Kevin Black to be at museum taking historic tintype photos

Back in 1847, Frederick Scott Archer invented the wet plate collodion photography process. This was made popular during the Civil War. Until then, preserving memories in pictures was almost impossible. Special chemicals are mixed and then poured onto a metal or glass plate, dipped into a silver bath and then exposed in the camera. That plate is then developed and fixed while still wet.
