OKLAHOMA CITY – The devastating wildfires sweeping through our state have left a trail of destruction, impacting livelihoods and communities. In response, Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation has been working diligently for impacted farmers and ranchers in the those areas to rally relief and provide information important to short-term and long-term recovery.

Club Scrub met on February 29. Several of our students will be interviewing for a place in the Health Science Program at Southwest Technology Center. Monica and Michelle from AHEC were very willing to accommodate us. Monica spoke about how to present yourself, how to hype yourself, and had handouts with helpful tips before, during, and after an interview. Then Monica and Michelle did a 'mock interview' with each student. I am very appreciative of their willingness to work with us! These skills will be helpful in any interview, even if it is not in the medical field. Mangum High School collaborates with Western Oklahoma State College, Cameron University, Great Plains Technology Center, and Southwest Area Health Education Center which is funded by the Carl Perkins grant to promote healthcare, science, and technology careers for high school students.

Seniors and parents, if you are reading this, the deadline for senior morph pictures is today. If they are not in today, they have to be in ASAP. We need a series of pictures starting with a baby picture around age 1 when they are sitting up and we will finish with their senior panel picture, which we have at the school. We’re looking for approximately 10 pictures about 2-3 years apart. Their eyes need to be open in all pictures and we need to see their full face. Please avoid sunglasses, hats, and sports equipment that could obstruct the face. You may send actual pictures or email pictures or a combo of the two. Pictures will be returned when finished. On April 8, areas of Oklahoma will experience a total solar eclipse for the first time in more than 100 years. The eclipse will start in southwest Texas and move across the United States, including directly over Oklahoma.
