Local woman starts petition to stop Oklahoma grocery tax

There are only 13 state in the US that still charge a grocery tax, with one of them being Oklahoma. Mangum resident Misty Peñuelas has started a petition to eliminate the state portion of the grocery tax with her group Citizens Against Taxation. “Having that extra 10 percent added onto our groceries really places an extra financial burden on many families,” she said.

Your Hometown Museum celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year! The Restored Elevator celebrates its 95th Birthday! Kevin Black Photographer & Printmaker was here and took Historic Tintype photo’s! Cowboy Church provided free Horse & Buggy rides & Lawn Mower Train rides for kids! Old Greer Co. Western Heritage Association provided Chuck Wagon Biscuits! We would like to thank all the people, paid or volunteer who helped make our Museum what it is today, without all the previous work what we have now would not be possible! We would also like to thank the Greer County Economic Development Authority for granting us the cost for bringing Kevin Black Photographer & Printmaker for our 50th Anniversary.
