The Methodist Church will be having a Weekly Wednesday Gathering for the Mangum Community beginning September 6. Doors open at 10am for visiting, music and board games.

Quartz Mountain State Park has several fun events coming up this month for the whole family. This Friday at the Nature Center they will have a skull discovery table where you can see and learn about animal skulls.
Tillman County Emergency Management Director Mike Thornton said they are looking to add additional storm spotters to their team. “Tillman County Emergency Management is looking for individuals who love the weather and want to make a difference in their communities,” Thornton said.
For the 13th year, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame will be awarding the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship to one Oklahoma high school senior. The $6,000 scholarship, which is given to the winning student over a fouryear period, is based on the student’s leadership roles, civic/community involvement, academic achievement, and knowledge and pride of our great state.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, southwest Oklahoma will see cooler temperatures and rainfall this coming week. The probability of rain increases with chances for a trace of rain on Monday near 75% and chances for more than one inch exceeding 40%.
Authorities are searching for a suspect accused of making the temperatures soar across Texas and Oklahoma. The suspect, Heat Miser, can often be found feuding with his brother, Snow Miser.
According to Mangum Agriculture Educator Hannah Warner, there will be a lot of show cattle in this year’s Livestock Show at the Greer County Free Fair being held this weekend. “The students are excited to show and we hope the community will come and support the kids this weekend,” she said.
