Billy Burl Buchanan of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on September 18, 2023. He was born in Loveland, Oklahoma on January 22, 1937 to George William Buchanan and Velma Haney Buchanan. 5Bill was raised in Loveland before moving to Brinkman where he graduated in 1955.

In 1957, he met the love of his live, Shirley Grubbs. They were married on September 7, 1957 in Mangum, Oklahoma.

He loved his family, friends and his country. 4He served them in many areas: 2Served them as a faithful worker of John Deere; served as a Deputy Sheriff; served as a United States Air Marshall, and served in the Army National Guard, and also served the Lord for many years at the First Baptist Church. He loved to read western books and was an avid history buff.

He was survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Buchanan; sons, David Buchanan, Ricky Buchanan, and daughter, Mini Pilcher of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Davina Wyer, Shelby Burley, and Haley Babcock; great-grandchildren, Dean Burley, Emmett Burley, Adrian Babcock and many nieces and nephews.
