Teresa “Terri” Nelson Winters

Teresa “Terri” Nelson Winters passed away at the Kansas Medical Center in Wichita, KS on Monday, May 30, 2022.  She was 66 years old. 

Terri was born in Las Vegas, NV on February 11, 1956 to Thomas Nelson and Doris Nelson.  She attended school in Mangum, OK from the first grade to graduating in the Class of 1974, where she made life long friendships, especially Debbie Rogers Anderson and Rose Mary Heatly Knorr.  They have been by her side through thick and thin.

Terri worked in the summers at the Mangum City pool.  After graduating from high school, she furthered her education at Western Oklahoma State College completing a medical secretary course and then working at the Mangum City hospital and later at the Weatherford hospital.  She also worked for an attorney while living in Luther, OK.

Terri was a dedicated mother to her sons, Cory and Brice and loved being Mimi to River.  She was an immaculate housekeeper, a good cook, liked to read, collect dishes, found joy in spending time with her dogs, and enjoyed memorable trips with her friends, Debbie and Rose Mary.

Terri was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sons, Cory Winters and wife Kelli and grandson River of Hooker, OK, and Brice Winters of Oklahoma City, OK; brother Mark Nelson and wife Sherrell of Mangum, OK; sister Fran Babek and husband Kenny of Sentinel, OK; uncle Clyde Avery and wife Joy of Carlsbad, NM; uncle Danny Avery and wife Sherry, of Mangum, OK and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.  All were very special to her.
