The 81st annual Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge longhorn sale will be held at Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing, Inc. (Apache Auction Market) in Apache on Thursday, April 11. Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing is located 0.75 miles northwest of Apache off Highway 19. Approximately 50 animals will be available, including 2 year old bulls, yearlings, and calves. The Oklahoma Peanut Expo, a joint effort of the Oklahoma Peanut Commission, Oklahoma State University Agriculture, USDA-Agricultural Research Service and the National Peanut Board, will take place in Weatherford this year on Thursday, March 21 starting at 9 AM at the Stafford Air & Space Museum at the Weatherford Airport, 3000 Logan Road in Weatherford. “We are expecting a larger crowd along with more sponsors this year, and the conference room at the Stafford Air & Space Museum gives us more room,” said David Nowlin, Oklahoma Peanut Commission executive director. “It is a first-class location that our peanut producers and vendors will enjoy.”This peanut industry expo will be showcasing the latest in research, development and market trends. Two certified Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry Private Applicator continuing education units are offered.

Voters in Greer County who want absentee ballots mailed to them for the Duke April 2 School Bond Election should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Debi Davis said today. Absentee ballots are available to all registered voters, provided they are eligible to vote in the election requested.

Anyone that wishes to donate hay to those affected by the recent wildfires can drop hay off at the Greer County Fairgrounds. Drop site is on the west side of the property. The hay will be collected at this site and transported to the affected locations as needed through coordination of those involved.

The Lighthouse Church in Mangum will be hosting a benefit dinner for Brad and Jessica Wetsel on Sunday, March 10 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Proceeds will go to help them with travel and living expenses while they are at the Mayo Clinic where Jessica will be getting testing to determine what may be causing her symptoms.
