Local Emergency Planning Committee meeting rescheduled

Greer County Emergency Management Director Greg Miller has announced that the Nov. 14 Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting has been rescheduled due to a conflict in the schedule of the facilitator leading the Threat and Hazard Identifi cation and Risk Assessment / Stakeholder Preparedness Review (THIRA/ SPR) planning meeting. The. New date of the meeting will be Dec. 20 fro 9 AM to noon. The location of the meeting has not yet been finalized, but a notice and reminder will be sent out in a week or two in advance of the meeting.

Vandal teens caught, curfews amended

Mangum Police Chief Lance Taylor said that a group of five juvenile vandals have been caught, and now the judge will decide their punishment. Local businesses, mainly in the downtown Mangum area, were vandalized with obscene words and crude drawings.

Mobile Wellness Clinic to be in Willow on Wednesday

Sick visits and health checkups for all ages will be available at the Mobile Wellness Clinic to be held in Willow on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The clinic will be at 112 W. Main Street from 9:30 AM to 3 PM (Closed from 12 to 1 PM). Walk-ins are welcome, however WIC is by appointment only. Insurance is accepted, but not required for services. There are no out-of-pocket cost to you.

City Mayor looking to fund new projects for Mangum

I sat down with Mangum Mayor Jackie Menasco this week to discuss what’s going on in town, what projects are being worked towards, and her views about Mangum. Menasco said that Mangum is looking to get some funding for some water wells and other projects soon, “There is some potential funding after we get back our yearly audit, and have all of that information - that is what we are in the process of doing right now.” She said that every year the City is audited, all of the finances, so they are just going through that process.
