Review of lease agreement utilities on next City Commissioners agenda

Back in November 2023, the City of Mangum Commissioners started discussing independent contractors’ contracts. It was decided to look into re-negotiating contracts and to get new bids. It was said that it has been a long time since contracts have been reviewed, and that they will be asking for at least 3 bids on their contracts.

Mangum man arrested on drug-related charges after fleeing arrest

Brody Lee Payne, 39, of Mangum, was arrested on Thursday, April 25. As officers approached his residence in the 200 block of W. Franklin Street with an arrest and search warrant, Payne fled into a field through a back bedroom window. Payne exited the field on S. Oklahoma where he was quickly taken into custody by units that were standing by on the roadway.

White crowned Derby Princess

Morgan White, a Senior at Mangum High School, was crowned the 2024 Miss Derby Princess Saturday as part of the annual Mangum Rattlesnake Derby. Contestants were Callie Griffis, Alexa Kendall, Holly Leamon-Webb, Mila Lara, Brynne Woodress, and Messina Taylor. Second runner-up was Alexa Kendall, and first runnerup was Holly Leamon-Webb. Kendall also received a $300 waiver tuition scholarship from Western Oklahoma State College, and Leamon-Webb received a $400 waiver tuition scholarship from Western Oklahoma State College.
