Stripe rust reported in southwest Oklahoma wheat fields

STILLWATER – Wheat producers in southwest Oklahoma are reporting stripe rust disease in their fields, and Oklahoma State University Extension wheat pathologist Meriem Aoun says cases have spread north to Stillwater.

One dead, another in critical condition after rollover east of Mangum

One person was killed in a rollover accident east of Mangum Sunday. According to reports, Calvin Caston, 79, Lone Grove, failed to negotiate a turn while driving on US Highway 283 east of Mangum and drove off the road, flipped his pickup truck, and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Since 1966 the Mangum Rattlesnake Derby has been a way to promote Mangum through tourism, promote local businesses, and a way for farmers to control snake populations and educate people about the misunderstood rattlesnake.

Donations sought for Hunter

Chance Hunter was born March 8, 2024 to Allison Hunter. Due to his early arrival, he has been admitted to the NIU at Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City for unseen medical reasons. Chance has had one heart surgery that caused more complications and for that reason his stay has been extended.

School sports physicals set for May 11

Mangum High School and Junior High sports physicals will be held at Mangum High School on Saturday, May 11 from 9 to 11 AM. All students in grades 6 through 12 that are participating in sports should pick up their physical forms at school, or you they can print them off at OSSAA.
